The second largest island is home to what some believe are the best beaches in the world. The waters off of Maui are also some of the best places in the world to whale watch every winter. Wake up early to catch the Haleakala sunrise, stroll through the historic hot spot of Lahaina town, or drive the long and winding road to Hana for spectacular scenery.
Maui, which is some 700 sq miles, was formed by two volcanoes, Mount Puu Kaukui - the Hill of Light and the 10,000 foot, Mount Haleakala, the world's largest dormant volcano, with a 25 mile winding road to it's vast summit crater and its entrancing Pacific sunrise vistas and miles of walking and horse trails.

Lahaina town is on the western shore and was the old whaling capital of the Pacific and is now a whale watch centre.

Wailea, MauiNearby is the renowned resort area of Ka'anapali with its miles of beautiful golden sandy beach edged by resort hotels and condominiums in their tropical garden settings. Further north is Kapalua, an area with many world-renown golf courses and outstanding beach resorts, including Kapalua Bay frequently acknowledged as having the best beach in the United States.

On the sunny southern shore is the award winning resort areas of Wailea, with its five star resort hotels, oceanside walkways, gardens and spectacular beaches. Here you can find top quality resorts, with world class Spas.

The five star Grand Wailea Spa is an elegant 50,000 sq feet. There is wonderful golf, beaches and scenery to match, whilst above stretches the unspoilt grassy low lands of Mount Haleakala and facing you in the blue pacific is the Marine Wildlife Reserve Islet of Molokini, which is an ideal morning sail excursion to explore and watch the sea life. A few miles past Wailea, where the road ends, is the stunning beach at Makena, beautiful and unspoilt.

On the East coast of Maui is Hana, old Hawaii, reached only by a 52 mile road that winds it's way through 600 bends and over 54 bridges, beside the Pacific ocean and beside tropical rainforests with many beautiful waterfalls cascading through the forests to the ocean.

The crater rim of Molokini pierces the ocean south west of Wailea and is a haven for snorkellers and divers to view colorful fish, turtles and reef sharks. Night dives here are particularly siad to be spectacular.
